Dont’e Thornton receives status update after suffering lower-leg injury vs. Mizzou

Dont’e Thornton will miss the remainder of Tennessee’s Week 11 matchup against Missouri.

And though this is a big loss for the Vols in what is likely to end up being a barnburner, Thornton has already left his mark on this game. The Oregon transfer WR hauled in a beautiful touchdown throw from Joe Milton to give Tennessee and early lead, 7-3.

Cody Schrader, Mizzou’s star running back, gave Missouri the lead a few minutes later with a dominant Mizzou drive.

According to the CBS broadcast, Thornton suffered a lower-leg injury suffered on the below touchdown reception:

There have been a lot of injuries in the one to start. Omarr Norman-Lott and Tamarion McDonald both suffered early injuries, as have a few Mizzou players such as DB Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

We’re in for a good one here, folks. The Tigers lead Tennessee 10-7 with 9:22 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
