Florida State is off to an 0-3 start in Year 2 of the Mike Norvell era. Considering the Seminoles went 3-6 in Year 1 under Norvell and previous head coach Willie Taggart was fired in the middle of his second season with a 4-5 record (9-12 in his tenure), some have wondered if a coaching change is coming at FSU.

Florida State athletic director David Coburn, however, remains confident in Norvell, at least publicly. Coburn met with FSU’s Board of Trustees Friday afternoon and praised Norvell.

“On football, I have just three things to say. One, we have the right guy. Two, we will improve. And three, we will win,” Coburn told the trustees, per Curt Weiler of the Tallahassee Democrat.

“That’s going to happen.”

We’ll see if that is genuine confidence in Norvell to turn it around or the “dreaded vote of confidence” that comes before a coach’s dismissal. Norvell’s Noles will look to get their first win of the season on Saturday against Louisville.
