Ed Orgeron announces when LSU may decide who starts at quarterback this season

The LSU quarterback competition is nearing its finish. And now, there’s a timeline for when the decision on a starter could be made.
During his press conference on Thursday, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron announced that he will sit down with his coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, on Sunday, a day after their final scrimmage. If there is a clear-cut winner in the quarterback competition, the team will then announce a starter.
It will either be Joe Burrow, a junior who transferred from Ohio State earlier this year, or sophomore Myles Brennan.
Burrow played in 10 games over the past two seasons for the Buckeyes, but never started. He has 263 career passing yards, along with two passing touchdowns and a rushing score.
Brennan saw limited action for the Tigers last season. He played in six games, passing for 182 yards and a touchdown. However, on Thursday, Orgeron stated that Brennan has gotten “10 times better” since the spring, partially due to better play from the offensive line.
“It’s so close that possibly two guys could play,” Orgeron told the media.
No. 25 LSU opens the season against No. 8 Miami at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Sept. 2.
