Ed Orgeron provides injury update for Derek Stingley Jr. for LSU’s SEC opener at Mississippi State

The news on LSU defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. doesn’t appear to be good as the Tigers open their SEC slate at Mississippi State.
If you’ll recall, Stingley suffered a minor injury that held him out of preseason camp. On Thursday, Ed Orgeron revealed that the injury had been re-aggravated, leaving the junior “very questionable” to play against the Bulldogs.
That will open the door to increased playing time for Dwight McGlothern, who made a pair of tackles — 1 for a loss — in his season debut against Central Michigan. Orgeron also noted that the team could shift Jay Ward to cornerback as well.
Through 3 games, Stingley has made 8 tackles with 3.5 for a loss and forced a fumble. Ironically, he missed last year’s game against Mississippi State too, with his absence due to an illness.
The Tigers and Bulldogs kick off at noon ET from Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN.
