Eli Drinkwitz announces 3 Mizzou players will miss season opener against Alabama

As the college football community has known for months, COVID-19 is going to be a big part of the 2020 season. With the SEC season now just two weeks away, we’ve reached the period where COVID-19 quarantines mean players will miss the Sept. 26 games. Mizzou already has multiple players out for the season-opener against Alabama.
On Saturday, MU head coach Eliah Drinkwitz told reporters that a positive COVID-19 test has already put three Tigers players in quarantine that will keep them from playing against the Crimson Tide. Drinkwitz pointed out that the number could grow with any more positive tests in the next two weeks.
Obviously, Mizzou already faced an incredible challenge in playing preseason No. 3 (No. 2 once the Associated Press removes current No. 2 Ohio State) for a new coaching staff’s first game. It certainly doesn’t help to have multiple players out. We obviously don’t know what quarantine situation Alabama will be under when the teams face off in Columbia.
Eli Drinkwitz said #Mizzou had a positive test yesterday which put three players in quarantine who will now miss the opener against Alabama. Any player that tests positive (or anyone who has to quarantine) between now and kickoff will not be able to play that game.
