Eli Drinkwitz emphasizes importance of fan enjoyment: ‘We can’t lose sight of that’

Eli Drinkwitz is still thinking about the common fan.

After speaking at the podium during the final day of SEC Media Days Thursday morning, the Mizzou head coach sat down with the crew at SEC Network to debrief. After discussing the starting QB job, his idea for a 30-team college football playoff and more, Drinkwitz dropped perhaps his best line of the day.

Drinkwitz was talking against the current state of college football, insisting that the people in charge are forgetting to prioritize the common fan. He insisted that alienating the fan will eventually make everything else a moot point. If the game keeps changing the way it has been, how will fans react?

He also said that fans don’t necessarily come for the game itself, they come because of their connection to the people, both on the team and in the stands. Here’s a look at his thoughts on the matter:
