After issuing the decision to go with 2 quarterbacks in the season opener vs. Central Arkansas, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz released a statement on why there’s no clear-cut starter after the competition in camp.

Drinkwitz says he needs more time in a real-game setting before making the call between Beau Pribula and Sam Horn, both of whom are team captains as well.

“I informed the team this afternoon that both quarterbacks will play in the first game,” Drinkwitz said. “I want to see them in a game-day situation to make a final determination.”

Pribula arrived this offseason after previously playing at Penn State. In 12 appearances last season, Pribula completed 26 of his 35 passes for 5 touchdowns and 1 interception while also rushing for 242 yards and four scores.

The rarely used Horn is entering his fourth season with Missouri. In total over his career, Horn has completed 3 of his 8 passes for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. Horn is also on the Missouri baseball team and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, so MLB could be in his sights after college.

Missouri vs. Central Arkansas is slated for Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on SEC Network.
