Mizzou is entering Week 1 without having named a starting quarterback. A Tuesday report from college football insider Pete Thamel shed some light on what that means for his QBs in Thursday’s season-opener.

Per Thamel, Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz plans to have Penn State transfer Beau Pribula play the first half of the Central Arkansas game. Fourth-year two-sport athlete Sam Horn will manage the second half of the game.

Pribula transferred from Penn State to Mizzou for a starting opportunity as a graduate student.  In 24 career games at Penn State, Pribula completed 37-of-56 (66.1%) passes for 424 yards with 9 touchdowns and 1 interception. On the ground, Pribula added 571 yards on 94 carries (6 yards per rush) and 10 scores.

Horn has been with the program since 2022. Sitting behind Brady Cook, redshirting in 2022 and missing 2024 due to injury, he has been limited to just 4 career appearances on the gridiron. A talented pitcher, Horn was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 MLB Draft but opted to put off beginning his professional baseball career for another season of college football.
