The New York Jets have been one of the feel-good stories through the first third of the NFL season. But not all things within the organization are jovial despite a three-game win streak.
Wide receiver Elijah Moore was given an excused day off from practice Thursday, with head coach Robert Saleh calling it a “family matter”.

Later it was disclosed that the second-year player out of Ole Miss had requested a trade.

Moore was drafted by the Jets in the second round (34th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft. He had a solid rookie and gave the Jets a nice spark on offense with 43 catches for 538 yards and five touchdowns.
He has struggled to find his footing in the offense this season and did not record a catch in Sunday’s 27-10 win over the Green Bay Packers. The Jets only threw for 110 yards in the game and have found more of an identity as a running team behind the efforts of rookie Breece Hall.
As Ian Rapoport said, it’s highly unlikely the Jets will even entertain any prospective trade offers at this stage. Moore is expected to play Sunday when the Jets take on the Denver Broncos.
