How close could this Saturday’s game between Georgia and Florida be? Well, one projection has the difference being less than a point.
Each week, ESPN’s Bill Connelly releases his SP+ projections, which is a computer model that uses advanced analytics to forecast the scores of every college football matchup around the country. And in this week’s projections, it has Florida beating Georgia by 0.1 points.
When rounded, that made the projected score for Florida-Georgia being 26-26. But the model gives the slightest of edges to the Gators. In other words, this could be a close, competitive matchup between two of the top teams in the country.
It’s likely to be the best game this week in the SEC, which has only four matchups on the schedule with six conference teams on bye.
Here are the SP+ projections for all of this week’s SEC games:
Florida 26, Georgia 26
Mississippi State 33, Vanderbilt 16
Texas A&M 34, South Carolina 23
Tennessee 26, Arkansas 24
? WEEK 10 SP+ PICKS ?
* Big games: BYU 31-27, Clemson 28-27 … and Fla 26.0, UGA 25.9 ?
* We finally get to find out if SP+'s love of Washington is requited
* Note: Dropping HFA back to 2 pts from 2.5. It remains a moving target, but 2.5 was prob too aggressive. pic.twitter.com/UkgWiYETH7— Bill Connelly (@ESPN_BillC) November 4, 2020
