No. 8 Alabama begins the season with a road matchup at Florida State in Week 1 on Aug. 30.
ESPN’s SP+ is now available for the Week 1 matchups and that model is projecting Alabama to defeat Florida State 32-18.
This is the first meeting between the programs since Alabama defeated Florida State 24-7 in a neutral site game from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 2, 2017.
Alabama leads the all-time since 3-1-1 against Florida State. Florida State’s lone victory was a 21-14 win on Sept. 29, 2007 in Jacksonville that is now vacated. This will be the first matchup between the teams at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
Alabama enters its second season under head coach Kalen DeBoer, who replaced the legendary Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide went 9-4 capped off with a 19-13 loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
After going 13-1 in 2023, Florida State significantly regressed to a 2-10 mark last season in Mike Norvell’s fourth year at the helm. The Seminoles have registered 3 losing seasons during the Norvell era, the most for any Florida State coach since Bill Peterson, who had 4 in 10 years from 1960-70.
Alabama at Florida State is slated to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be broadcast on ABC.
