For the first time since 1976, Oklahoma and Michigan will square off on the football field this Saturday and it’ll be a matchup between a pair of ranked squads. ESPN’s SP+ has projected the final score of the contest between host No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 15 Michigan.
The SP+ is picking the Sooners to narrowly defeat Michigan 26-20 in Norman.
In Week 1, Oklahoma routed visiting Illinois State 35-3 and host Michigan defeated New Mexico 34-17.
Oklahoma won its lone matchup against Michigan with a 14-6 victory on Jan. 1, 1976 in the Orange Bowl. The current-day Wolverines could also have trouble on Saturday because of the Sooners’ balance. Oklahoma’s offense is No. 6 in passing yards (392.0) and No. 23 in overall yards (495.0) nationally.
Meanwhile, the Sooners’ defense is second in passing yards allowed (34.0), 11th in points per game allowed, and 12th in yards per game allowed (151.0) in the country. Oklahoma’s defense is also 6th nationally in third down percentage (9.1).
Both Oklahoma and Michigan scored on all of this trips in the red zone in their season openers. Michigan at Oklahoma is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on ABC.
