No. 9 Texas is down 19-7 at the half vs. host Florida. It’s a surprisingly-disappointing first half for Texas against a floundering Florida squad that’s 1-3 this season.
Florida raced out to a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter after a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Jadan Baugh and a 34-yard-field goal from Trey Smack.
Arch Manning connected with Quintrevion Wisener for a 6-yard touchdown in the second quarter. However, Florida responded with a 13-yard touchdown pass from DJ Lagway to Dallas Wilson and a safety on a punt blocked by Taylor Spierto.
The fans and media are ripping Texas for the stunning first-half showing:
Texas’ offense produced just 87 yards in the first half, with Manning passing for only 63 yards. The ground game was nonexistent with 24 yards on 11 carries. Meanwhile, the Longhorns’ defense is getting carved up by Florida’s running attack. Baugh has 66 of Florida’s 113 rushing yards.
Texas might be looking ahead to the rivalry matchup next weekend vs. No. 5 Oklahoma but they’ll need to take care of business in Gainesville to avoid a bitterly-disappointing loss.
