Kentucky baseball fans set a Wildcats program record during Tuesday’s midweek contest against rival Louisville.

Obviously, this wasn’t just any midweek contest. The Wildcats and Cardinals have one of the strongest rivalries in the country, and fans treated it as such. The announced attendance at the game was 5,292, a regular-season record for the Wildcats.

The game was originally scheduled to take place a few weeks ago in Louisville, but was postponed and moved to Lexington in respect for those lost in early April’s Louisville shooting.

And Kentucky did not fare well. The Wildcats fell to the No. 21 Cardinals 7-0 Tuesday night in front of a record-setting crowd.

Next up for Kentucky is a weekend series against Vanderbilt in Nashville. The Commodores are looking to bounce back from a weekend sweep at the hands of Tennessee last week in Knoxville.
