The 2025 college football season is right around the corner, and the excitement is palpable throughout the country. In the SEC, Florida football has announced that its entire allotment of season tickets is sold out.
This is a massive piece of news, considering how the Gators finished the year last year and managed to turn their season around after a slow start. The biggest key behind that excitement is DJ Lagway under center.
Florida finished last season with an 8-5 record, but won 4 straight games to close out the season. Lagway helped this offense meet its potential, while the defense also settled down and played well down the stretch. Florida has 13 starters returning from last year, with 6 on offense and 7 on defense. There is also an incredible home slate of games this season for the Gators, which also factors into the sellout.
Long Island University and South Florida open things up for Florida in The Swamp, but then things ramp up in SEC play. After over a month away from The Swamp, Florida plays Texas on the first weekend of October and will also play Mississippi State in mid-October in Gainesville. Then, Florida has a loaded November home schedule with games against Tennessee and Florida State to round out the month in big rivalry games.
The schedule is loaded with landmines, but that’s life in the SEC. The big story is that Florida fans are excited about this season after at least two or three seasons of straight disappointment; the excitement is palpable.
