Florida defensive backs coach will not return, recruit not happy

Florida will have a new defensive backs coach next season.

According to GatorCountry.com, Florida DB coach Kirk Callahan will not return to the team.

Florida ranked among the top five in the SEC in most major categories when it came to pass defense this season. The team ranked 4th in the SEC in passing yards allowed per game (182.1) and 3rd in interceptions (14).

This was Callahan’s first season at Florida after coming from Central Florida, where he spent the last three seasons coaching defensive backs at his alma mater.

One of Florida’s commits for the Class of 2016, safety Jeawon Taylor, apparently didn’t like the move, and he made that pretty clear on Twitter.

“Welp bad move,” Taylor tweeted.
