It’s no secret that the Florida Gators’ pass defense was impressive last season, ranking second in the NCAA with 148.5 pass yards per game allowed. The NCAA honored the Gators’ efforts with a plaque, as displayed here by former Florida DC and current Temple head coach Geoff Collins:

The Gators’ defensive backfield, which featured three players projected to go in the first two rounds according to NFLDraftscout.com, finished first in the nation in pass efficiency defense at 92.87.
While the secondary loses some notable talent in CBs Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson and safety Marcus Maye, the Gators have recruited well and return some nice talent. Look for Duke Dawson and Chauncey Gardner to take the reigns of the Gators’ secondary in 2017.
This defense powered the Gators to a 9-4 record, which included an SEC East division crown and a win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl.
