Florida leads all FBS teams in true freshman participation

Florida is off to a 4-2 record this season heading into a road matchup against South Carolina (2-3) this weekend. The Gators have been getting plenty of contributions from true freshmen.
According to research from On3’s Zach Abolverdi, Florida ranks No. 1 in the FBS in true freshman participation with 11 members seeing action. The amount is 4 more than Clemson and LSU, both tied for 2nd on the list.
#Gators have had more true freshman play in every game than any FBS team.

Some examples of true freshmen making an impact are tight end Arlis Boardingham, running back Treyaun Webb, and receiver Eugene Wilson III.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Boardingham has caught 13 receptions for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. The California native arrived at Florida as the No. 23 ATH in the nation, according to 247Sports.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Webb has rushed for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns with 6.6 yards per carry. 247Sports deemed the Jacksonville native as the No. 17 running back in the country.
The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Wilson III is second on the Gators in receptions (20) and receiving yards (168) along with a receiving touchdown. Wilson III has also rushed for 27 yards on 2 carries. The Tampa native came to Gainesville as the nation’s 109th best prospect, per 247Sports.
Florida at South Carolina is slated for a 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday and will be televised on the SEC Network.
