Entering his third season in Dan Mullen’s program, Dante Lang appears to be switching from offense to defense. Lang signed in Mullen’s 2018 class as a tight end. The bio of his Twitter account now reads “Official page of Dante Lang University of Florida DE.” The online roster for the Gators has not yet been updated from the 2019 season.

Lang was rated a 3-star tight end out of Boca Raton, Florida in the class of 2018. He committed to the Jim McElwain staff ahead of the 2017 season and signed with UF in the December early signing period despite the coaching change. As a reserve tight end and special teams contributor, Lang participated in 15 games over the last two seasons without recording any other stats. He redshirted in 2018.

Florida is led by standout Kyle Pitts at the tight end position. The Gators also return Keon Zipperer and Kemore Gamble. Tampa Jesuit tight end Jonathan Odom signed in UF’s 2020 recruiting class.

Defensive end Zachary Carter, a projected 2020 starter, was reportedly absent from Florida’s first fall practice.

The 2019 roster listed Lang at 6-5, 252 pounds. Lang’s junior season high school highlight video features him playing defensive end:
