Florida State’s dreadful 2024 season summed up in one stat

Florida State fans hoped that their team could build on the momentum it gathered in 2023 — the Orange Bowl notwithstanding — and be a factor in the ACC once more while claiming the College Football Playoff berth that evaded the Seminoles.
The 2024 season, though, has been nothing short of a disaster. The Noles lost 35-11 to North Carolina on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium to drop to 1-8. Brock Glenn threw a touchdown but finished with just 123 yards, while the Seminoles were held to 42 yards on 28 carries. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels’ Omarian Hampton ran for 4 touchdowns and caught a 5th.
Florida State averaged just over 34.5 points a game a season ago thanks in parts to the efforts of quarterback Jordan Travis. This season, it’s posted just 14.4. In fact, the Seminoles have yet to score 21 points in a game in 2024, the only team in FBS with that designation.

Even in their lone win against Cal on Sept. 21, the Noles eked out 14 points. And the odds of them scoring over 21 points in Week 11 are slim: they’ll visit Notre Dame.
They do host Charleston Southern in their second-to-last game of the season, though, so it’s unlikely they’ll go through the entire way without surpassing the 21-point plateau. Still, things are in very bad shape in Tallahassee.
