For all the hype around former Alabama defensive linemen in the NFL, the Crimson Tide has produced some fantastic linemen on the other side of the ball.

One of those guys is center Ryan Kelly, who has been a rock at center for the Indianapolis Colts since they used their first-round draft pick on him in 2016. But the Colts will be without the former Alabama standout for the immediate future after an MRI revealed he suffered a sprained MCL against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

The Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday that Kelly will miss Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, though there’s currently no timetable for his return.

“I’m not sure,” Kelly told reporters. “That first week is probably a big indication of how long it’s going to take. Definitely not playing this week, but hopefully next week, or whenever it is.

“I feel good. I feel a lot better than I did Sunday and Monday, so just keep going day-by-day and see how it feels. I think it’s in a good spot where a brace can help.”

As a senior at Alabama in 2015, Kelly was a consensus All-American and won the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s best center. The Colts are hoping to get him back as they continue their playoff push, and Crimson Tide fans certainly want to see him on the field again.
