Former Alabama DB signs with Jacksonville Jaguars

A former Alabama defensive back is headed to a new NFL team. Safety Deionte Thompson has been signed to the practice squad for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Thompson played with the Crimson Tide from 2015-18 and captured 2 national titles during his time in Tuscaloosa. During the 2018 season in which he tallied 78 tackles and 2 interceptions, Thompson was selected to the First-Team All-SEC squad.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Thompson with the 139th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Overall, Thompson appeared in 44 games and made 6 starts for the Cardinals from 2019-22. So far, Thompson has amassed 46 tackles during his pro career.

The Cardinals waived Thompson on Sept. 27.
