When Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson was shot twice late August in a carjacking attempt, the rookie said he would return this season.

Six weeks later Robinson will be starting at running back for the Commanders in their Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears.

Robinson was a third-round pick (98th overall) for the Commanders in the 2022 Draft. He was part of two CFP championship teams at Alabama (2017, 2020) and was named to the All-SEC first team last year.

He returned to practice last week and was placed on the active roster last Saturday. Robinson told Sam Fortier of Washington Post that it was a special moment.

“I never thought I’d be in a situation where I had to question or be questioned if I would be able to return back to playing football,” Robinson said. “It was just a beautiful day for me, honestly.”

The Commanders will play the Bears at Soldier Field in Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
