The 2015 season was one to forget for former Alabama running back Eddie Lacy, who is preparing for his fourth year with the Green Bay Packers. He received a career-low 187 carries and hit under 1,000 yards (758) for the first time in his career, finding the end zone just three times.
Lacy has now publicly acknowledged that he didn’t take the greatest care of his body heading into that third season, and even Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that he wouldn’t play a down in 2016 without dropping an ideal amount of weight after starting the regular season at around 240 pounds.
“My first two years, I pretty much did whatever I wanted,” Lacy told ESPN. “Last year same thing, just different results. It’s something I crossed I’m glad earlier than later. You learn it and keep going.”
It was a valuable lesson for Lacy — one that he has taken to heart. He’s now been seen sporting a new, slimmed-down look, thanks to an offseason full of P90X workouts.

You get a wake-up call,” Lacy said. “That was my wake-up call. Better sooner than later.”
