Former Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson to miss his first Thanksgiving Day game with Lions
Kerryon Johnson will have to wait to play in his first Thanksgiving NFL game.
The rookie running back out of Auburn will not suit up for the Detroit Lions against the Chicago Bears for Thursday’s game, according to the team’s official injury report. Johnson, who dealt with several injuries while playing on The Plains, is currently dealing with a knee issue.
The former Tiger has been one of the NFL’s most productive rookies. He’s ninth in the league with 641 rushing yards per game, and his 5.4 yards per carry are sixth-best in the league. Johnson has also factored into Detroit’s passing game with 32 receptions for 213 yards and a touchdown.
It’s a shame Johnson won’t get to participate in the Lions’ annual tradition of playing on Thanksgiving, especially because it’s a nationally televised game that Auburn fans can watch.
