Avery Johnson is a familiar name around Tuscaloosa, as that was the name of Alabama’s men’s basketball coach before Nate Oats took over.
Well, a different Avery Johnson was making headlines on Monday night, this time at the expense of the Crimson Tide.
Former Cincinnati player Avery Johnson took to Twitter on Monday night to say the Bearcats would beat the Tide in the Cotton Bowl:
We beating Bama #GoBearcats #CFBPlayoff

Obviously, if Cincinnati does knock off the reigning national champions in the College Football Playoff semifinals, it would be a huge deal.
But, you can bet Alabama players have seen this tweet and will use it as motivation.
We’ll see how the Cotton Bowl goes. Kickoff on Friday is set for 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN.
