Is South Carolina about to hire a coach with Clemson ties?

South Carolina’s coaching search may be down to two candidates, various sources reported Saturday.
Former Florida coach Will Muschamp, defensive coordinator this season at Auburn, and Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez, a former offensive coordinator at Gamecocks archival Clemson, appear to be the frontrunners to succeed Steve Spurrier. According to reports, Rodriguez has already interviewed for the position.
Football Scoop reports that South Florida coach Willie Taggert has interviewed for the job and another current head coach is also a candidate.
Football Scoop reports that Muschamp has contacted Clemson co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott and former South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore as potential staff members and credits courses that Muschamp would also consider Kurt Roper and Travaris Robinson, former members of his Florida staff, for staff positions.
