In most cases, a team’s Pro Day serves as a pre-draft showcase for players graduating or declaring early. At Georgia’s recent Pro Day, however, a Bulldog who last played at UGA in 2019 returned to Athens and ended up landing a new NFL opportunity.

Former Georgia wide receiver Tyler Simmons returned to UGA for the 2021 Pro Day and took full advantage of the opportunity. Simmons’ agent shared that the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him after the general manager observed his 2021 Pro Day workout.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero saw agent Brian McLaughlin’s tweet and noted that last year’s COVID shutdowns hurt many players in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

At Georgia, Simmons caught 35 passes for 438 yards and 3 touchdowns in his career. He also had 9 punt returns in the 2019 season.
