Arkansas won the first game of the Chad Morris era, and the Razorbacks’ coach already has a new fan.
During an interview with Arkansas radio host Bo Mattingly on Wednesday, former Ole Miss and Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville praised Morris and the Razorbacks, stating that he believes the program is on the right track.
“They’ve got the facilities in Fayetteville to get it done,” Tuberville said. “Chad Morris has the pedigree as a coach. Then it’s just about being a salesman. You’ve got to sell your program, your conference.”
Tuberville knows what it takes to have success in the SEC. He went 85-40 over 10 seasons at Auburn, winning nine or more games in a season six times.
“You’ve got to have a plan that will work in the SEC West first,” Tuberville said. “You’ve got to play defense and run the ball.”
And Tuberville thinks that’s exactly what Arkansas can do in the future.
“You can do it at Arkansas. But you have to have the plan,” Tuberville said. “I think Chad Morris has it. Just stick with it. Don’t get away from it.”
The Razorbacks won their season opener against Eastern Illinois, 55-20. They play their first road game of the year on Saturday, when they travel to Colorado State for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
