Former South Carolina quarterback Steve Taneyhill has purchased a bar in Columbia called “Group Therapy,” according to a report from The State.

Taneyhill, who threw for 8,782 yards and 62 touchdowns during his career with the Gamecocks (1992-95), has been coaching high school football for the last 16 years but couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to fulfill one of his dreams.

“I’ve wanted to own a bar since I was 18 years old,” he said. “And I always wanted to come back to Columbia and do something. So this was a good fit.”

Taneyhill says that though he’ll be changing the bar’s name to “Steve Taneyhill’s Group Therapy,” he won’t be making many other changes (outside of some personal sports paraphernalia, of course).

“It’s not going to be a sports bar,” he said. “We want to keep the tradition. But if the Gamecocks are playing on the road at 1 (p.m.), we’ll be open at 11 (a.m.).”
