Former Texas A&M RB Christine Michael making most of ‘fourth opportunity’
NFL opportunities are not simply handed out, and former Texas A&M running back Christine Michael had to learn that the hard way.
Now on his second stint with the Seattle Seahawks after bouncing around with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins, Michael says he’s had an “awakening” with his professional career and is looking to make the most of it with the chance to become a candidate to replace Marshawn Lynch in the backfield following his retirement.
“I was here and I felt like I was back on my fourth opportunity,” Michael told John Clayton during an ESPN Radio appearance. “I wanted to run the ball well. I can’t say I was worried or not worried about getting another chance. I got out here and want to do the best I can.”
With Lynch and Thomas Rawls sidelined, Seattle re-signed Michael for the final three games of the 2015 season, where he ran for 192 yards on 39 carries and then went for 70 more yards in the Wild Card victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He was then signed again as a free agent this offseason, thrusting him in heavy competition with Rawls, C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins, and Zac Brooks for extensive playing time this upcoming season.
OurLads.com currently lists Michael as the second option behind Rawls, which places him in good position to remain with the team moving forward.
