Dansby Swanson and Kyle Wright are world champions with the Atlanta Braves, but they haven’t forgotten their Vanderbilt roots.
Wright tossed 6 shutout innings in Atlanta’s 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies to even the NLDS series 1-1. Swanson was 1-for-3 at the plate and made a highlight catch in the field.
The former Commodores were among the Braves players who met with the media after Wednesday night’s game. Tennessee beat writer Wes Rucker of 247Sports noted an amusing comment from Swanson. The Vanderbilt alumni purposely avoided the orange Gatorade, per Swanson.

Tennessee is an instate rival for Vanderbilt, though commenters on Twitter noted Swanson and Wright may not care for other teams in the conference and the surrounding region that wear orange. The Tennessee-Vandy rivalry has heated up on the baseball diamond in recent years with UT’s success under Tony Vitello.
Swanson and the Braves will be back in action Friday for Game 3 in Philadelphia.
