Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter was asked about his interest in Tennessee’s head coaching vacancy on Thursday.

Cooter’s name has gone somewhat unrecognized — or at least has been less publicized — in a list of more high-profile potential candidates that include the likes of Jon Gruden, Dan Mullen, Gary Patterson and even Jimbo Fisher.

But the Lions’ OC is quite familiar with the Volunteers’ program.

Cooter was a backup quarterback at Tennessee and served as a graduate assistant in Knoxville in 2007 and 2008. He was a part of the last Vols team to win the SEC’s Eastern Division.

So would Cooter be interested in the Tennessee job if it were offered to him?

“I’m locked and loaded on the Chicago Bears,” Cooter said, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.

When asked if he would consider other coaching opportunities after the season, Cooter apparently repeated, “I’m focused on the Chicago Bears.”

The former Vols QB definitely isn’t letting any secrets out of the bag.
