Four SEC assistants among 15 semifinalists for Broyles Award

Since the Broyles Award was established in 1996, the SEC has always had a handful of contenders for the prize honoring the nation’s top assistant coach.

This year is no different.

Four SEC assistant coaches appeared on the list of 15 semifinalists for the Broyles Award, which was released Tuesday. Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman, LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and Mississippi State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop are all in the running for the award.

The list will be trimmed to five finalists next Sunday, with the winner to be announced Dec. 4.
