Four SEC schools were said to be in the mix for Tyler Catalina, but he chose Athens in the end.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive tackle, who played at Rhode Island the last three seasons, has one year of eligibility left as a graduate transfer. He announced Monday on Twitter that he’d be playing that year with Georgia.

In the tweet, Catalina says:

“After much thought and conversation with my family, I have decided to decommitt from Iowa State and have decided that I will be playing my final year at the University of Georgia.”

Catalina had also been recruited by Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M. He had also signed non-binding financial aid papers with Iowa State.

The Worcester, Mass., native could start immediately with the Bulldogs. He’s been told that he has the capability of playing left or right tackle as he played on the right side his first year with the Rams before playing on the blind side in each of the last two.

Catalina is scheduled to graduate in May.
