Sitting at 4-4, Kirby Smart’s inaugural season in Athens has been a challenging one.
Georgia is relying upon a true freshman — albeit talented — quarterback in Jacob Eason. Growing pains are inevitable with any inexperienced player, and Eason is no exception.
The Bulldogs’ offense ranks No. 104 nationally in total offense. Running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel have been hindered by injury, and a lack of running lanes up front. Both have also been vocal in wanting more touches.
According to Dawg Nation, offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will move up to the booth for tonight’s game against Kentucky as means to galvanize the offense.
While he won’t have as much one-on-one communication with Eason on the sidelines, he should be afforded a better look at what Kentucky’s defense looks like from a formation standpoint.
Georgia can only hope this move will pay off — as it looks to become bowl eligible with two more victories.
