The start of a new college football season is always exciting. It’s even better when there are some marquee matchups right off the bat, and this year, that is certainly the case.

One of the most highly anticipated season openers will feature a pair of top-5 teams, as No. 3 Clemson and No. 5 Georgia will face off in a battle of 2 of the best programs in the country. The matchup is taking place in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

On Monday, ESPN announced the broadcast crews for the opening week of the college football season. And the network is sending one of its top teams to Charlotte for this Georgia-Clemson clash.

Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will be calling the game, with Holly Rowe working as the reporter. It will be Rowe’s debut on ABC’s Saturday Night Football after ESPN announced she would be taking over for Maria Taylor, who left to join NBC Sports.

Rowe is entering her 26th season covering college football for ESPN and ABC, per the network, so she’s no stranger to the job. ESPN’s announcement stated that Fowler and Herbstreit are entering their 26th season as well, and their eighth working Saturday Night Football on ABC.

While Georgia and Clemson used to face off regularly, this is the first time the programs will meet since a home-and-home series in 2013 and 2014. Both schools are expected to be College Football Playoff contenders in 2021, but only one will start off the new season 1-0.
