With the final bars from 50 Cent’s live performance still ringing in their ears and a sellout Memorial Stadium crowd finally back in the game, the Alabama Crimson Tide needed an answer to regain what was a multi-score lead in the fourth quarter against the Oklahoma Sooners on Friday night in the College Football Playoff.

Cue Germie Bernard.

The Alabama senior receiver hauled in an acrobatic 24-yard catch over the back of Oklahoma’s Jacobe Johnson – a reception that harkened back to Tyrone Prothro’s insane over-the-back grab against Southern Miss 20 years prior.

The reception was Bernard’s 3rd of the game, giving him 40 receiving yards in the game. The Crimson Tide then paid off Bernard’s acrobatic grab when Daniel Hill spun into the end zone for a 6-yard rushing touchdown to make it 34-24 with 7:29 to play.

Alabama (10-3) spotted Oklahoma (10-2) a 17-0 lead early into the 2nd quarter before reeling off 27 straight points for a 27-17 lead through the 3rd quarter. The Sooners responded in the opening moments of the final 15-minute frame when John Mateer hit Deion Burks for a 37-yard touchdown.
