Greg McElroy was keeping a close eye on an instant classic of a game between Alabama and Georgia, as the Crimson Tide took a 30-7 halftime lead but staved off a wild Bulldogs comeback attempt.
Jalen Milroe was terrific, throwing for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 117 yards and 2 more scores.
“(He) was outrageously good. Probably the best he’s ever been by a mile,” McElroy said on his “Always College Football” podcast. “His anticipation when throwing the football is elevated so significantly. And that doesn’t really show up on television, but when you see it in an all-22 setting, and you see it in person, you see it and how quickly he’s throwing the football.”
Milroe, in fact, finished the day with a quarterback rating of 98.4. That’s the highest against an opponent in the Top 5 since McElroy himself put up a 98.5 against No. 1 Florida in 2009, a point highllighted by the official X account of McElroy’s morning radio show with Cole Cubelic:

Thanks in part to the play of Milroe, the Tide are 4-0. They are on the road for Week 5 as they face Vanderbilt in Nashville.
