Greg McElroy will be on the call for No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 20 Kentucky from Athens and he’s pumped for what he expects will be an intriguing matchup.

The ESPN analyst shared his thoughts on the SEC East contest between undefeated teams during a recent episode of Always College Football.

McElroy says this is a matchup between 2 teams in the division that are a cut above everyone else. Georgia has a 13-game winning streak vs. Kentucky.

Georgia has shown some struggles this season, most recently last weekend in the 27-20 victory vs. Auburn. However, McElroy is still confident in the ability of the Bulldogs.

“There are enough positives that I’ve seen in the 2nd half of games against both Auburn and South Carolina to make me feel like Georgia is going to be just fine as it relates to some of the teams they’ll face on their schedule this year,” McElroy said.

McElroy is an advocate of Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, whom he notes is getting the job done with a different playing style than his predecessor.

“I am very impressed with Carson Beck. I think he’s got a big arm. He slides in the pocket. He doesn’t play like Stetson Bennett,” McElroy said. “He’s very methodical. It’s not going to be as big-play reliant.”

Meanwhile, McElroy believes in order for Kentucky to snap the massive drought vs. the Bulldogs, they’ll have to get off to a fast start.

“This is not a team that’s built to come from behind,” McElroy said.

McElroy expressed disappointment in the play of Kentucky senior quarterback Devin Leary. He says the Wildcats will need more out of the NC State transfer to have any chance at a victory.

“He’s been okay this year. Just okay. To be honest with you I thought we’d get more from Devin Leary…I think he’s been average. He played really poorly last week, frankly,” McElroy said. “…I think the best way to attack this Georgia defense is over the top. You’ve got to win some 1-on-1s. You’ve got to get behind them.”

Kentucky at Georgia is slated for a 7 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday (ESPN).
