Auburn coach Gus Malzahn announced Saturday afternoon that junior defensive end Raashed Kennion has left the team in order to “pursue politics.”

Kennion (6-foot-6, 237 pounds) served as the backup to Carl Lawson in 2015, where he recorded eight tackles (one for loss) and three quarterback hurries in five appearances. He is a former three-star prospect from the recruiting class of 2014, ranking as the nation’s No. 73 weak-side defensive end.
According to his athletic profile, Kennion has been studying in the College of Liberal Arts with a focus in Political Science.
