While Auburn did play a neutral site game to begin the season, the Tigers have yet to play a true road game in 2019. That will change this weekend when Auburn visits Texas A&M.

Playing in front of a tremendous opposing crowd is one of the things Malzahn says he is looking forward to seeing this Saturday.

Last season, Auburn went 1-3 in true road games, though, two of those contests came against the SEC division champions — Alabama and Georgia. This year, the Tigers will play four road games again with three coming against ranked opponents, the first of which is this weekend against Texas A&M.

Auburn will also visit No. 9 Florida and No. 4 LSU in October. Sandwiched between those two away games is a road trip to Arkansas.

Here’s what else Malzahn said in his Wednesday press conference:

  • On Seth Williams: He practiced, like we talked about, he is not 100% but he is still day-to-day. He was out there moving around.
  • On Prince Taga: Real similar, not 100% but he was out there moving around.
  • On the defenses in the SEC: Seems like every year there are a few teams that are the best D in the league in our conference, the talent is really what sticks out to me.
  • On focus with his team this week: This is really our first big road test in a hostile environment, playing a really quality opponent. Looking forward to seeing us play.
  • On relying on the run and A&M’s run defense: There is no doubt, that will be a key to the game. Their numbers are special, we have to run to be successful so that will be key to the game.
