Jalen Carter listed as 2022-23 Outland Trophy semifinalist

The semifinalists have been named for the Outland Trophy and a Georgia player made the cut. The award is given to the best interior lineman in the nation.
Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter was one of the 7 players on the list, as confirmed by reporter Brett McMurphy.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Carter has amassed 9 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles this season for No. 1 Georgia. The junior had 7 total tackles and a sack in Georgia’s most recent outing, a 45-19 victory at Mississippi State.
For his career, Carter has tallied 68 total tackles and 5 sacks. Carter also hauled in a touchdown reception during his freshman season in 2020. Carter was a member of the 2021 Second-team All-SEC squad, as he totaled 37 tackles and 3 sacks.
Carter arrived at Georgia as a 5-star prospect from Apopka, FL.
Next up for Georgia is a road matchup at Kentucky on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. and coverage will be televised on CBS. Georgia has a 12-game winning streak vs. Kentucky entering the contest.
