Jalen Milroe is gearing up for a big SEC West showdown this weekend as No. 11 Alabama gets set to take on host Texas A&M.

The sophomore Alabama quarterback made his first collegiate start against the Aggies in a 24-20 victory last season. It’s been an up and down season in his first full season as the starter, but Milroe believes he’s made strides heading into the road contest in his home state.

“I think experience is the best teacher, for sure. I’ve definitely learned a lot of football with more game experience. Also just being around Coach Saban and Coach Rees, I just learned a lot about football,” Milroe said. “I’m steadily growing. I’m not a finished product at all…From that moment, I’ve just used it as a vehicle to where I’m at now. Just learning and growing as much as possible.”

During the meeting last season, Milroe went for 111 passing yards with 3 touchdowns and an interception while also rushing for 81 yards. Milroe has passed for 838 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions this season.

The Katy, Texas native is excited for the opportunity to play in front of his loved ones.

“I will say Texas is a great place. That’s where I was raised…I will have a lot of family there. It’s going to be a great game. Great atmosphere down in Texas. We have a challenge this week. Big opponent,” Milroe said. “They have a great defense, great offense. We’re excited. We have to prepare as much as possible. We’re just trying to grow every single day this week.”

Alabama at Texas A&M will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST (CBS).
