Jameson Williams will be back in the NFL sooner than expected.

Williams and Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere will be reinstated on Monday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

This means that Williams’ 2023 debut will be against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 8. Detroit beat the Green Bay Packers 34-20 on Thursday Night Football in its last game.

The original punishment for Williams was a six-game suspension. The NFL recently changed its punishment for gambling inside of a team facility on non-NFL sports from six games to two.

If a player bets on the NFL the suspension is for one year, which could increase to two years if the player bet on their own team.

Williams could be an immediate-impact player for the Lions’ offense. He played in six games for Detroit in 2022 and had a 41-yard touchdown reception.
