Jeff Lebby responded to reports tying him to the Mississippi State head coaching vacancy on Friday afternoon.

Lebby is currently in his second season as Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator. The Sooners had one of their best games of the season on Friday, as the put up 69 points in a big home win over TCU.

After the game, Lebby was asked about the rumors but said it wasn’t the time to comment on it.

“To me, there’s a time and a place for all that,” Lebby said. “We’re focused on the now … We’ll see about that.”

Lebby was hired as Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator by Brent Venables ahead of the 2022 season. Lebby does have ties to Mississippi, as he previously coached at Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin before taking the Sooners’ offensive coordinator job.

Lebby also spent time at Oklahoma with new Mississippi State athletic director Zac Selmon. Selmon worked in OU’s athletic department prior to taking the Mississippi State AD job back in January of this year.

Oklahoma has not been eliminated from Big 12 title contention, but the Sooners will need some help from other Big 12 teams on Saturday in order to make the conference championship game.
