The Egg Bowl is an everyday affair in Mississippi.

For Jeffrey Simmons, a former five-star in-state prospect that chose the Bulldogs over the Rebels, there’s no time like the present to rub it in.

Simmons and the Bulldogs destroyed the Rebels 55-20 in last season’s Egg Bowl, the likes of which helped send MSU to the St. Pete Bowl, despite having five wins. The egg-themed holiday of Easter was the perfect time to tee off on Ole Miss for Simmons.

Simmons came to Mississippi State under a cloud of controversy. Once a five-star recruit and the No. 1-rated player in the state, Simmons made a splash when he chose the Bulldogs over the Rebels. Head coach Dan Mullen took some heat for suspending Simmons for only one game following his pleading no contest to simple assault after a graphic video surfaced of the blue chipper hitting a woman.
