Jets rookie Micheal Clemons, former Texas A&M DB, gives brutal assessment of first preseason performance

Micheal Clemons spent a season in the JUCO ranks before ending up at Texas A&M for 5 seasons. In 2021, he was 3rd on the Aggies in sacks (7.0) and 2nd in tackles for a loss (11.0) en route to being taken in the 5th round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
The Jets opened up preseason on Friday with a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, and Clemons impressed, ending the night with a sack on 5 QB hurries and 7 QB pressures in 30 snaps, according to The Jet Press.
Still, when asked about his performance on Thursday, the rookie was clearly hungry for more.
“I wasn’t (pleased),” he replied. “As a player, I have a lot to work on, and I try to show up every single day, come out here, get a little bit better. That’s a credit to my coaches and my teammates for helping me out since I’ve been here, putting me in the best position to be successful, but [I’m] nowhere near where I need to be.”
Jets fans — and Aggies fans, for that matter — will surely be pleased to see Clemons motivated to improve. Can he back up his words and end up being a late-round steal for New York?
