Joe Burrow heard the comment from Wink Martindale this week, the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, and he admitted on Sunday that he thought about it during the game.
Leading up to the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Ravens, Martindale cautioned against putting Burrow in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“I don’t think we’re ready to buy a gold jacket for Joe (Burrow) yet,” Martindale said.
Burrow certainly played inspired football in the 41-21 victory, as he passed for 525 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Burrow told reporters after the Bengals win, “I didn’t think it was a necessary comment. I wouldn’t say I was offended by it. I’m in Year 2, who knows what’s going to happen down the road. I didn’t think it was a necessary comment.”
Was it on his mind at the end of the game?
“Maybe,” Burrow said.
