Joe Burrow is no Lamar Jackson when it comes to running the football. But the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback showed off his wheels in a big way against the Giants on “Sunday Night Football”.

Up until Sunday, Burrow had never run for more than 23 yards on a single carry in his NFL career. That changed on Sunday during the Bengals’ opening drive. On 3rd and 18 from the Giants’ 47, Burrow kept it and took it 47 yards to the house as Cincinnati took an early lead.

Take a look at the play below:

According to NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Burrow maxed out at 19.86 miles per hour, with the carry registering an expected rushing yards total of just 10 and a 0.3 percent chance at a touchdown.

Perhaps that’s the play the Bengals needed to spark their disappointing season as things have been going backwards over the past few seasons. In 2021, they won the AFC North en route to a Super Bowl appearance. A year later, they repeated as division champions but fell in the AFC Championship Game.

But in 2023, they missed the playoffs with a 9-8 mark. They’re in danger of doing so for a second straight year unless they turn things around: they entered Sunday night’s game at 1-4.
